Hello extended Commonground community,
Just over three weeks ago we launched a crowd funding campaign to publish the autobiography of Glen Ochre, one of Commonground’s founders. It has been heart warming to see so many of you giving generously to the campaign, helping make her book ‘Child of the Earth’ a reality. With four days left in the campaign we are now aiming higher, hoping to reach an ambitious target of $20,000. This will not only publish and launch Child of the Earth, but also allow us to publish Glen’s Community of Selves book that delves deeply into her unique model of self-awareness, forged by the lived experience of the Commonground community.
So please spread the word, select your reward and make a pledge by the 30th of June, let’s go for $4,000 more in the final 4 days!
Here at the Commonground Venue we’re about to host a group of local Taungurung as they prepare for the fantastic opening to the Melbourne Festival by the Eastern Kulin Nations, Tanderrum. In July we’re also excited to be hosting the second of three learning retreats at Commonground in 2016 of the newly launched Women’s Environmental Leadership in Action program.
In other news, work on the Commonground Festival is bubbling away. Volunteer applications are streaming in, band applications have now closed and the music selection committee is carefully crafting what should be a very special musical experience on the 18th-20th November. Tickets will go on sale in late July. To be the first to know when tickets go on sale sign up to our mailing list if you haven't already.
For those of you who can’t wait till the Festival to get your Commonground fix we have a Gathering coming up on 29 – 31 July. Gatherings are part working bee, part learning more about Commonground and part good fun. They provide an opportunity for kindred spirits to gather together and to look after Commonground. Without the help of people like you we would not be able to keep resourcing the social change movement.
If you’d like to join us, please visit the Gatherings page on our website and follow the instructions to RSVP to book your place.
Wishing you all a cosy Winter,
The Commonground team
